Cookies and local entries on BorealisFalls.

The site keeps a small handful of strictly necessary local entries and one optional analytics signal. The full inventory is below in plain language.

1. What is a local entry?

A local entry is a small piece of information stored on the visitor's device by the browser. On this site, two strictly necessary local entries are written on first visit: the eighteen-or-older confirmation and the consent record. They are written both as cookies and as localStorage entries so the cabinet remembers the confirmation across pages even when the file is opened from a local file:// URL by a quality-assurance reviewer.

3. Manage your choice

The cookie notice can be reopened at any time from the small "Cookie settings" pill in the corner of every page. Visitors can also clear both local entries from their browser's site-data settings; the cabinet will simply ask for the eighteen-or-older confirmation again on the next visit.

4. Browser-side controls

All major browsers expose a per-site privacy panel where local entries can be cleared individually. Chrome and Edge: settings, then privacy and security, then site settings, then BorealisFalls. Firefox: shield icon in the address bar, then site permissions. Safari on macOS: preferences, then privacy, then manage website data. Safari on iOS: settings, then Safari, then advanced, then website data.

5. Third-party cookies are off by default

No third-party cookie is set before the visitor accepts the cookie notice. Google Fonts caches by file rather than by visitor and is not used as an identifier. The site does not embed third-party widgets and does not load advertising tags.

6. Legal context

This inventory complies with the Yukon's adoption of federal personal information rules under PIPEDA, with PIPA-BC and PIPA-AB for visitors elsewhere in western Canada, with Quebec's Loi 25, and with the GDPR Art. 13 transparency requirements for visitors from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom.

7. Changes

When this inventory is updated we record the change in the workshop notes on the front of the atrium and bump the version field on the consent record to one. Visitors with an older version see the cookie notice again the next time they open the site.
